INTEREST CHECK
Hello, adventurers!
This is the interest check for Dorressea, a private short-term game. Your mods will be Coco (Plurk: @amplitude), Michelle (Plurk: @sweetstacks), and Amber (Plurk: @twistingkage) -- the same mod team from Vella! You must be on one of our Plurk timelines to be able to apply.

Dorressea is scheduled to run for up to six months at the most and will have a maximum of 25 slots available, with a reserve being required in order to apply to the game. Those on the mods’ timelines will have reserve priority; if, by a later date and time during the reserve period, we still have openings, we will open reserves to +1s. We will run the game with a minimum of 15 players.

About Doressea
Dorressea is a short-term, private adventure game that takes some inspiration from tabletop, some inspiration from virtual/fantasy isekai series. Our full premise can be found here!

On the surface, the goal is for characters to venture through different dungeons and obstacles, and gain the necessary skills to obtain what they need to return home. However, characters can also uncover plot clues through various methods, such as investigating various parts of the setting and interacting with NPCs, to find answers about their arrival and uncover Dorressea’s secrets.

As a disclaimer, Dorressea is meant to be a plot-oriented game. Interacting with the setting and/or participating in events are strongly encouraged. It is entirely possible for players to change the story, which is part of why we'd like to keep it relatively small.

Game Structure + Activity Check
We anticipate that Dorressea will be a medium- to fast-paced game, though the actual pace will largely be determined by the playerbase. The game will have two events every month; these events will be posted on the 1st and 20th, with the exception of the intro log, which will go up a few days before the first official log. 1 IC day = 1 OOC day. We may have other events pop up, depending on player choices; we will always try to give advance notice for when these are scheduled to happen.

If we feel that we can wrap the game up earlier, we will communicate with the playerbase.

Activity Checks will be monthly. Since this is a short-term game, AC will be 15 comments across 2 or more threads started in the AC period. Each thread must have a minimum of 5 comments from you. Open posts and top levels count as 1 comment per thread that takes place within the post/top level. There will be a permanent AC post that you can post your activity to at any time.

We will have a game Discord as well as a mod Plurk. We will be posting announcements to both platforms. You do not need to join the Discord in order to play in the game.

Battle Classes
The page for classes is still under construction, so we'll give you a brief rundown of the classes here:

  • Mage: The Mage uses elemental spells in battle. Mages have three elements at their disposal: fire, ice, and lightning. They won't be able to specialize in an element; instead, they will learn to draw energy from all three sources.
  • Healer: The Healer is pretty self-explanatory: They utilize healing spells to rejuvenate their targets. They can also gain utility-based spells that can cause status effects like paralysis and confusion.
  • Archer: Also self-explanatory. The Archer is skilled at ranged attacks. They use a bow and arrow, and can deal precise strikes from a great distance.
  • Thief: The Thief uses stealth, speed, and quick, precise attacks in battle. They prefer weapons like daggers and throwing knives.
  • Warrior: The Warrior's classic weapon of choice tends to be a sword, but they can use other weapons like spears. They can also use shields and prefer fighting in close quarters.
  • Tank: The Tank's weapon is generally two-handed, like a large battle axe. However, their attacks are slower; defense is their greatest asset.
We are not putting a cap on characters per class. If we get 25 Healers, we're rolling with 25 Healers, etc.

Schedule
We are looking at starting the game on Saturday, August 28th, with reserves opening up on Saturday, August 21 at 3pm EST. Applications will open on the same day as reserves at 6pm EST. We will allow everyone to see the application before reserves open in case anyone would like to get started early.

Please note that due to IRL factors (timezones, work, etc.), the mods are operating on a later schedule. We probably won't be able to get to things that require our attention during the weekdays until ~7pm EST. (We're a lot more flexible on weekends!) This is also why we wanted to structure the game a little differently, and why we chose to extend it to a maximum of six months.
